Wallet Out of Sync - connection timeout

Just got back from holiday and my wallet is out of sync with the last received block 3 days ago.  It's trying to "Catch up" but is stuck on 99.72%.  I restarted the wallet but no luck.  The logs are showing " - connection timeout" for all the IPs it is trying.

I found this thread. Still an acceptable fix?

Running version 1.9.2.1 on my Mac.  Looks like there is a higher version for Windows but not for the Mac yet.  This OK?  Also can the wallet be run in two places at the same time like work and home?

Let me double check about the Mac release.  You can run the wallet on two different machines but it would be two different wallets

Is this a version issue or should I be looking for issues with my network?

Thanks so much.  I upgraded and the new wallet has been running for 2 hours.  I see the number of connections go up and down. It was at 7 and is now down to 0 and 1.   The last block time is still Sun Dec 24 02:38:06 2017 and syncing at 99.38%.  Current number of blocks=204932 and Estimated total blocks=206202.

Lots of connection timeouts and connection refused in the log. I guess this may all be normal.

What is the expected time for a wallet to catch-up?

It's been 12 hours and still Current number of blocks=204932. This morning the Number of Connections was zero.

The wallet had been syncing fine for weeks and then just stopped around 12/23. Something else to try or be patient?

Coming up on 20 hours and still no block updates.   Because no one else is posting my guess is that I am the only when having this issue.

Not sure where to go from here.

I decided to jump on Discord and chat about the issue.  NxtGenCowboy suggested that I delete and re-download the block chain.  Best to have a good network connection because it can take some time.

1. Make a back-up (just in case) of the wallet

2. Quit curecoin-Qt

3. On the Mac navigate to <user>/Library/Application Support/curecoin

4. Delete all files except the wallet (wallet.dat)

5. Start cure coin-Qt

Took about 30 minutes to download the block chain but my wallet is once again synced and I have 8 active connections.

I've been trying to install my wallet using the CureCoin QT 1.9.4.1 installer, but to no avail. I am running Mac OSX Yosemite 10.10.5. Every time I double-click the installer, I get the CureCoin logo loading page where it says "Loading block index..." above it, then almost immediately there is an error alert which oddly loads UNDERNEATH the loading splash page. Once I click and drag it from behind the logo, it says the following:

A fatal error occurred. curecoin can no longer continue safely and will quit.

EXCEPTION: St13runtime_error
CDB() : can't open database file blkindex.dat, error -30974
curecoin in Runaway exception

I've tried this several times and have even tried it with the older 1.9.2.1 wallet and have gotten the same results (same error message). I've also installed FAHViewer (7.4.4) and FAH Control (7.4.4) on my computer, but they aren't currently running. Please help!

PS: The video tutorial on Mac set-up is kind of dated. The registration page for the CureCoin Folding Pool also asks for a "Cure address" that isn't explained in the video because the registration page didn't ask for it back in 2014. After 10 minutes of googling, I finally figured out that the address is the wallet number (which I can't get to because of the above error). However, this isn't very user-friendly for crypto newbies on the Mac platform. I would guess that many of them would simply give up and go mine another currency rather than decipher the puzzle of getting started. Also, somewhere on the CureCoin website, there is a hyperlink to setting up a username and passkey that directs to a dead link. There are also links to both 1.9.4.1 and 1.9.2.1 on different tutorial pages, which can also lead to confusion. A design similar to the driver download pages used by audio interface companies might be more user friendly: place the most current version up top with its release date and short description, followed by previous versions ordered from latest to oldest, and divide into sections based on operating systems.

Yeah, I'm getting the feeling that CureCoin is relying on undergrad volunteer labor (or poorly-supervised intern labor), so I'm going over to GridCoin until I see that CureCoin is actually taking their project seriously. Paid moderators wouldn't let a failure this significant go unaddressed for this long.

I mined something else as well, but decided to come back and investigate. I was able to get mine working by installing an old version (1.3.0.x) let it fully sync up. quit. Then pull the new version (1.9.4.1) back into applications and it loaded up fine for me. Looks like someone just removed a necessary file. I will try to dig deeper into it tomorrow.
