Rewards seem low compared to points

I'm folding with the same hardware as I did a couple months ago, and the points per day are relatively the same, however, the coin rewards are much lower than before. I'm getting around 8 coins a day, rather than the 15-20 I'd seen before.

Hi.

That's because the teams total output has increased enormously during that time. Your ppd output is now a much smaller % of the total than it used to be.

Yup - just like any other cryptocurrency, the payout is determined by competition. The more competition, the more computations each coin represent ... so with only 7488 coins available every day to split among folders, each coin now represents more compute cycles, therefor is a higher value and more difficulty.
