Has anyone tried to contact Sanders or other progressive grassroots movements? They are usually pro-research and very open to new ideas

It's a great idea and we encourage our team members to share the curecoin concept with politicians as well as their favorite celebs.

We try to stay away from politics as a general rule... If we pursue the Sanders camp, we alienate our Libertarian members. If we go hard in the "ethical egoist" direction, we alienate the progressives.

The trouble with directly taking political sides takes away from CureCoin's unifying proposition - and we like all our folders regardless of the reason they fold

Celebs on the other hand are fair game. In general they are going to be left-leaning politically, so it doesn't pay to limit yourself when approaching Hollywood - and we've contacted celebs on both right and left ends of the political spectrum (from Padma Lakshmi and Cher to Ashton Kutcher and Mark Cuban).

I'll be reconnecting with my talent agency contact in the next week. Since Curecoin has a 501c3 sponsor now, it might change things a little bit in how we can approach celebs going forward (even if it just means better exposure to CureCoin's cloud folding and charity donations as a start). I'll keep this thread updated once I learn something.

Yeah that is a possible drawback. I will try to spread the world to local researchers in my medical school (not celebs, but we all try our best with whom we know 😛 )

perhaps something we can all consider; approaching ALL major political sides simultaneously - especially on bi/multi/partisan issues like research funding.

CureCoin has demonstrated (albeit on a small scale) we not only generate a currency which represents actual research units, but also that the currency can be used to help fund further research (as demonstrated by our donations to ANTRUK, Bonfils, and back to Stanford's Pande Labs).

Some feedback from our Hollywood contact last week, however it plays like a broken record. It tells where celebrities are in terms of using equipment on the internet...

1. Celebrities have been switching purely to phones and tablets - many no longer have PCs (only game consoles)
2. Hollywood is paranoid of hacking - any internet connected app outside of social media is "suspect"
3. Since '14 Sony hack, Hollywood IT departments block any non-business apps out of security fears.
4. Lastly - "You've still got to dumb it down" ... that's when I suggested they check out our tax deductible Cloud Folding donation system through Visions made Viable (90% of PayPal and Amazon Smile donations funds protein folding in our hybrid cloud) .

Although it's somewhat frustrating, this does help our social media and direct mail campaigns target a narrower group of celebrities (like those who directly endorse computer games & equipment ... or those looking to enhance their charitable contributions to science).

Anyway - this thread is not dead. Even if you have a friend who is an out of work actor - by all means introduce the concept of Protein Folding Research and CureCoin to them. Chances are, they know *someone* famous in Hollywood who just might latch on and send this "to the moon!".
