Celebrity Endorsements

I contacted a friend who works as a talent agent for a successful Hollywood agency. He's a tech guy (FPGA board designer) turned talent agent. I'm picking his brain if he thinks there would be any celebrity interest in getting involved and perhaps funding a large folding farm in the name of the CureCoin team, and accepting CureCoin as payment in their stores and restaurants.

Stay tuned...

Update:

I have a con-call scheduled with him this Tuesday (he's been out of town).

In the meantime, here is an interesting discussion on FF about Celebrity Endorsements of F@H ...

https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=23266&hilit=celebrity
Conversation goes from tepid, to red-hot, to "PG doesn't want to advertise F@H"
... it's all good reading.

The one reference that stands out from 2011:

New FAH viral ad campaign.  We're also working on a new landing page for FAH and a new video to advertise FAH.  This new web/video campaign is coordinated with new client/installer changes to make FAH easier to install and run, especially for those new to [email protected]

I think with all the work they've don on their installers along with penetration into the console realm, PG has become much more welcoming of broad public exposure since.

Well - we had to reschedule for next week. He's flying out of LA tonight, and just ran out of time ...

Update:

I received a call from my friend today. He looked at a presentation I created showing how CureCoin could boost a celebrity's brand and image - and how the entire life-cycle of CureCoin works. I received some really good input, and he agreed to review any promotional material CureCoin produces - before it gets submitted to celebrity publicists.

The main points I walked away with:

any presentation to publicists has to be under 3 minutes long,
and has to fully explain the benefit to the celebrity and their brand -
before trying to explain anything about the underlying technology.

If it doesn't get past the publicist (who typically has a short attention span) it will never make it to the celebrity.

Any presentation has to be VERY high-level (limit the gobbledygook)

Also, I got a list of celebrities who could be receptive, given the right presentation.

My friend is familiar with past NIH board members (the agency that helped seed the F@H project) ... so having opened this door, we're in the right hands (even if that simply means constructive criticism and some high level exposure).

I'm hoping I can have a conversation with Lasershurt, or another founding member in the next couple of days about the details. I don't want to post the presentation because it contains copyright material (and it was put together too fast).

Anyway, keep coming back ...

Had a really good conversation with Cygnus and one of the Ghostsbusters (not sure which of them it was 🙂

We discussed creating a streamlined presentation that will target publicists in the entertainment industry. The goal will be to present CureCoin in a very specif light to emphasize benefits to celebrity brands, while promoting broader adoption of CureCoin. The sub-goal is to eliminate some of the technical gobbledygook we all enjoy, but induces glassy eyed stares from otherwise intelligent individuals.

Hi wuffy!

This sounds interesting. I guess it isn't easy getting around the gobbledygook, but there are probably some that are more receivable to this than others. I don't know anything about celebrities but they may be just as open to something that will help humanity as much as their brand. Update ...

Four presentations are being produced. It's a lot of work - especially without using Final Cut Pro:

  • :30 second commercial spot
  • 3:00 minute introduction for celebrities
  • 3:00 minute introduction for entrepreneurs
  • 5:00 minute technical/historical overview

They are turning out nice, informative, but not too flashy ...

Starting work on a universal contact letter for publicists, but there will likely be personalized cover letters for each contact made.

Update

Moving slow and steady ... publicists letters almost ready for review. Creating charts for valuation predictions proving to be challenging.
Most difficult is to present realistic valuation (avoiding numbers that are too low, or over-exuberant).
Charts showing valuation projections from steady $0.032 all the way to $XXX's (blue sky :-).

  • Since the talent agency contact saw :30 second commercial spot, he's expressed more interest, but remains tentative - looking to find the right "fit"
  • Also have an IT "Marketing Maven" ... reviewing the presentations this week.
  • Created some T-shirt designs to send off to publicist offices - Design could also serve as CureCoin team T-shirt the team could sell.
  • Submitted slightly revised CureCoin logo for Team approval ... goal is to make it look more international

Update:

Began a limited campaign with targeted list of personalities.
Goal is to consult highly influential individuals early, then progressively move down the scale of influence with time.
... this can be a lengthy, even tedious process, but keep your fingers crossed.

this is a long term commitment ... slow and steady wins the race.

You can check out twitter, linkedin and reddit for the latest curecoin social media outreach. But rest assured there are plenty of non-published conversations in progress as well.

Just checking in, since this thread had a lot of views trying to grow the social media networks in order to gain critical mass of followers for celebrities and angel investors to become interested.

We know the right individual or group is only a mouse click away - the question just becomes "When?"

I'll keep the thread updated - I wont rest until we commit at least one D-Lister...
Andy Dick, where are you !?

... update for 12-13-2014

Submitting marketing package, making phone calls, we are persistent (if not a little pesky). Here's an example since Mr. Cuban's publicist didn't respond to our package submission from several weeks back.
This might make them notice. If not, plenty of others celebrities with vision out there 😉

Would be great if all folders retweeted anything directed towards a celebrity. It would at least bring a little attention, and hopefully a reply.

Cant believe its been two months since our last update on this thread...

Between the Holidays, the Miami Bitcoin conference, along with producing presentations for potential retail and charity partners, we've been busy. But just to let everyone know, this thread is not dead.

We're using a slight different approach that I'm certain would make everybody proud to be associated with this project - whether or not the efforts bear fruit will be a combination of luck and presentation.

Can't reveal specifics or make guarantees, but we are working several legitimate leads in this area. The concept of CureCoin is not something that can be pushed, but rather has to be absorbed through osmosis. All I can tell you; we're getting better. Disappointment !? Like water of a duck's back 8)

Just a FYI; A few weeks ago Andy Dick favorited this tweet.

Maybe it would be an idea to organize some form of clever tweets towards celebrities, if enough people tweeted to them some are bound to respond. Even if it just makes a small impact, its still getting the word out there.

That's cool ... I think I saw that. I'll see if I can follow up on it. After reading about Andy's antics, he would certainly add a lot of "exposure" to Curecoin 😉

We do post on Celeb twitters from time to time ... like this one last weekend ...

Heather Graham who claims she's a nerd ... we'll see 😉
and
William Shatner
and
Kirstie Alley

The problem with most of them is that it's their lawyer publicist filtering their tweets for them. These people are very single threaded - "protect my client from fraud and scandal while presenting a wholesome image, blah blah blah".

Frankly all curecoin fans, folders and investors are welcome to tell their favorite celebrity about curecoin - just keep it clean, and don't embelish or exagerate things that aren't true.

My focus has been working with a charity to get on board the Endometriosis project so the 10 or so celebrities whom we've sent packages to will recognize our work to be legitimate.

Update for June ... we have been busy spreading the word using several marketing approaches over the last year...

    Social Media
    Email Campaigns
    Certified Letters
    Direct Contact

I'm going to cover some of our experiences in later posts ... but just so our team members know that word is getting out - its a long term endeavor educating people on the value of distributed computing, protein folding and crypto-currency ... concurrently. We encourage all our team members to hit up their favorite celebrities on social media and let the know that our team alone has processed well over half a million dollars worth of computational research in medicine in just one year (*using the lowest cloud computing rates as a benchmark).

Here is a partial list of celebrities and companies we've reached out to (remember this is outside the crypto-currency world). I'll updated it with more entries as i recompose the list and hopefully sort it more logically.

Hi, wuffy68

A celebrity endorsement is something when a famous person uses their notoriety to help sell a product or service.

There are lots of benefits to it, for example:
1) Helps to build brand equity.
2) Help people remember ads.
3) Make people believe the product contributes to superstar status.
4) Stand out.

My friend owes a branded shoe business in Los Angeles, he once contacted the pr firm named KFPR, who helped him in doing product seeding and further they even managed all the celebrity endorsement arrangements in a well behaved manner. He was quite satisfied with their work.

Hope, you might have heard about this firm before.

Hi, Ivan

Thank you for your reply, At first I would like to say that I will not going to laugh at all (We would love to have someone like, don't laugh, Rob Kardashian commit to helping develop CureCoin), because if dreams are not high, you can achieve your heights that you are willing to approach.

Besides, yes, If you are work is good, definitely, business persons and huge pr firms will contact you. Keep up the good work!!

And I am eagerly waiting for your PM for a bit of further discussion.
