I contacted a friend who works as a talent agent for a successful Hollywood agency. He's a tech guy (FPGA board designer) turned talent agent. I'm picking his brain if he thinks there would be any celebrity interest in getting involved and perhaps funding a large folding farm in the name of the CureCoin team, and accepting CureCoin as payment in their stores and restaurants.
Stay tuned...
Update:
I have a con-call scheduled with him this Tuesday (he's been out of town).
In the meantime, here is an interesting discussion on FF about Celebrity Endorsements of F@H ...
https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=23266&hilit=celebrity
Conversation goes from tepid, to red-hot, to "PG doesn't want to advertise F@H"
... it's all good reading.
The one reference that stands out from 2011:
I think with all the work they've don on their installers along with penetration into the console realm, PG has become much more welcoming of broad public exposure since.
Well - we had to reschedule for next week. He's flying out of LA tonight, and just ran out of time ...
Update:
I received a call from my friend today. He looked at a presentation I created showing how CureCoin could boost a celebrity's brand and image - and how the entire life-cycle of CureCoin works. I received some really good input, and he agreed to review any promotional material CureCoin produces - before it gets submitted to celebrity publicists.
The main points I walked away with:
any presentation to publicists has to be under 3 minutes long,
and has to fully explain the benefit to the celebrity and their brand -
before trying to explain anything about the underlying technology.
If it doesn't get past the publicist (who typically has a short attention span) it will never make it to the celebrity.
Any presentation has to be VERY high-level (limit the gobbledygook)
Also, I got a list of celebrities who could be receptive, given the right presentation.
My friend is familiar with past NIH board members (the agency that helped seed the F@H project) ... so having opened this door, we're in the right hands (even if that simply means constructive criticism and some high level exposure).
I'm hoping I can have a conversation with Lasershurt, or another founding member in the next couple of days about the details. I don't want to post the presentation because it contains copyright material (and it was put together too fast).
Anyway, keep coming back ...
that's awesome new Wuffy. Looking forward to hearing your updates!
Had a really good conversation with Cygnus and one of the Ghostsbusters (not sure which of them it was 🙂
We discussed creating a streamlined presentation that will target publicists in the entertainment industry. The goal will be to present CureCoin in a very specif light to emphasize benefits to celebrity brands, while promoting broader adoption of CureCoin. The sub-goal is to eliminate some of the technical gobbledygook we all enjoy, but induces glassy eyed stares from otherwise intelligent individuals.
Hi wuffy!
This sounds interesting. I guess it isn't easy getting around the gobbledygook, but there are probably some that are more receivable to this than others. I don't know anything about celebrities but they may be just as open to something that will help humanity as much as their brand. I've read will.i.am has a focus on tech education: http://iamangelfoundation.org/
I like the term
BTW, thanks for the tip ... we'll hit up the whole Elephunk family if that's what it takes 🙂
Update ...
Four presentations are being produced. It's a lot of work - especially without using Final Cut Pro:
They are turning out nice, informative, but not too flashy ...
Starting work on a universal contact letter for publicists, but there will likely be personalized cover letters for each contact made.
Update
Moving slow and steady ... publicists letters almost ready for review. Creating charts for valuation predictions proving to be challenging.
Most difficult is to present realistic valuation (avoiding numbers that are too low, or over-exuberant).
Charts showing valuation projections from steady $0.032 all the way to $XXX's (blue sky :-).
Update:
Began a limited campaign with targeted list of personalities.
Goal is to consult highly influential individuals early, then progressively move down the scale of influence with time.
... this can be a lengthy, even tedious process, but keep your fingers crossed.
Update:
For anyone who wants to follow some of the public marketing / outreach work:
The wiki article is lovely!
Makes me dream about the wonders of the future.
The future is here 😉
