In medicine, Proteopathy refers to a class of diseases in which certain proteins become structurally abnormal, and thereby disrupt the function of cells, tissues and organs of the body.

Nice link, thanks.
In return here a youtube video I like:

Thanks ... Paul Andersen does a great job demonstrating the basics of the protein folding problem. I was just thinking about the Foldit game. You read my mind.
Here's another link .. this time to Ken Dill's Tedx talk ... it starts out a bit dry, but by the middle, you'll wonder how did they evolve or "who?" designed the protein machines that run the way they do. There's a nice Intelligent Design debate in the discussion. I'm not taking sides but seeing the protein's specialized functions certainly makes you wonder (random chance, design, or a little of both).
Thanks for that useful information. I was curious if anyone here that was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, and then it cured them. Apparently, HIV and AIDS aren't an instant death sentence. The treatment of these illnesses, however, has not transformed since 1996. Scientists have been attempting to determine how the proteins of this family of viruses work together. Scientists checking out the HIV-like disease eventually chose to ask users of a computer game for help. Just three weeks later, the query has been answered.

sorry for the very late response ...I have a family friend who lives with AIDS ... he takes a drug cocktail that the doctors keep adjusting for him based on his periodic testing. Definitely no cure.
I don't think the FoldIt community discovered THE cure for AIDS, but their discovery is likely helping to create better, more targeted lead compounds to battle it ... this can take years - IF it works.
Curecoin is actually doing a beta to reward active Foldit team members with CURE if you are interested:
Thanks for sharing the information. Its helpful. All the best, tl brown law
